Important Water Safety Message – Please Share
As we experience this period of considerably hot weather, we are asking all families to take a moment to read and share this important message about staying safe around open water.
Some of you may already have seen a powerful video created locally, alongside guidance from the RNLI's Float to Live campaign. If not, we strongly encourage you to take a look at the following resources:

Float to Live – What To Do If You Fall In Water: https://rnli.org/safety/float
Tragically, this message comes at a time when our local community has been affected by a devastating loss. In April 2025, Jack Lloyd was with friends at Crown Lakes near Peterborough when he entered the water and immediately experienced cold water shock. Despite being a strong swimmer, the sudden shock caused him to go under the water, and he sadly did not resurface.
This heartbreaking film shares Jack's story through the words of his father, Darren, who speaks openly about the profound impact on their family. Emergency services also provide vital advice about the dangers of open water and how to stay safe.
It is every parent's worst nightmare to receive a call that their child is missing in water. By sharing these simple but life-saving messages, we can help prevent further tragedies.
Key message: If you fall into water - Float to Live.
Lean back, extend your arms and legs, and control your breathing until the effects of cold water shock pass.
Please take a few minutes to watch, learn, and share. Raising awareness truly can save lives.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support in promoting the safety and wellbeing of our children and young people.
