Free Online Safety Sessions for Parents & Carers

Keeping children safe online is more important than ever. The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit’s Cyber Protect and Cyber Choices Team is offering FREE online sessions designed for parents and carers of children in Year 5 (age 9) and above. These sessions provide essential guidance on online safety, cyber risks, and ways to protect your family from cyber threats.

Parents Event - Part 1: Introduction to Cyber Choices and Online Risks

This session provides an overview of cybercrime and the risks young people may face online. It will cover:

  • What cyber crime is and how it affects young people
  • The risks children and young people may experience online
  • How the Cyber Choices programme supports at-risk individuals
  • How to refer a young person to Cyber Choices
  • Practical advice to help parents/carers make informed decisions about their child’s online activity

This session offers practical strategies to enhance your family’s online safety and covers:

  • How to improve your personal cybersecurity
  • Identifying and protecting key accounts for you and your children
  • Cyber threats and techniques used by cybercriminals
  • Benefits of family accounts and parental controls
  • Signposting useful resources, including guidance from the Government’s Stop! Think Fraud and the National Cyber Security Centre’s CyberAware campaign
