Key Stage Five Curriculum Model

Our sixth form curriculum offers a broad and diverse range of subjects which gives students the foundation knowledge into discreet chosen career pathways and academic next steps. The sixth form curriculum is delivered by specialist subject teachers who have extensive knowledge and skill with their areas of learning coupled with the experience to deliver successful outcomes for their learners.

Our Sixth Form curriculum offer thereby fully meets and supports the principles of the 16 to 19 study programmes insofar that it provides a structured and challenging individualised learning programme that promotes development and progression. 

In timetabling our Sixth Form subjects, we aim to satisfy the maximum possible number of student choices.

When studying at Stanground Academy, students choose to specialise in a minimum of three subjects from the list below:

In addition to the student’s core subjects, they will choose one additional option from the three pathways presented below. These three strands are the values which underpin our whole school curriculum intent.

Year 12 students will undertake 4 teacher led lessons per subject, totalling 12 hours with an additional one hour per subject allocated to subject specific independent study. In year 13, each subject receives 5 hours of teacher led lessons. Alongside this time, all students will partake in a minimum of one hour for a chosen Aspire and/or Inspire activity or an additional four hours for the study of a scholar subject.
