At Stanground Academy, we are committed to supporting our students' learning both inside and outside the classroom. As part of this commitment, we have updated our Home Learning Programme to ensure that all students are fully prepared for their studies and can practise essential skills independently.

Students will have a clear schedule of tasks to complete for each subject, following the specific guidelines for their year group. These tasks are essential for reinforcing what has been learnt in the classroom and for helping students develop independent study habits.

Home Learning Expectations:

• Year 7 & 8: Students will spend 30 minutes on Sparx Reader, Maths, and Science, with an additional 20 minutes allocated to their Week A and Week B subjects.
• Year 9: Students are expected to dedicate 30 minutes to Sparx Maths, Reader, and Science, as well as 30 minutes on their Week A and Week B subjects.
• Year 10 & 11: Students will spend 45 minutes per subject on their Week A and Week B subjects. This includes core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, along with their 3 option subjects.

We recommend students to complete their home learning tasks on the day they are assigned to avoid cognitive overload and to ensure effective time management.

If you need support, you are encouraged to attend our Home Learning Club, which is held in the library during the following times:

• Breaktime: Every day
• Lunchtime: Tuesday and Thursday
• After school:
  • Monday to Thursday: 3.00pm - 4.30pm
  • Friday: 3.00pm - 4.00pm

Our academy library is open until 4.30pm every day, offering a quiet space for students to complete their work with access to computers and staff support.

Tutor Checks:

Your tutor will check that you have completed your assigned tasks each morning, so it’s important to stay on top of your Home Learning schedule.
